In 2014, Uptown United is embarking on reconstitution — or renewal — of Uptown Special Service Area (SSA) #34. A Special Service Area (SSA) is an additional property tax levied on properties within the designated district. Uptown SSA #34 was established for a ten-year term in December 2005. Via Uptown United, SSA#34 has provided services such as sidewalk snow removal, sidewalk litter removal, graffiti removal, sidewalk planter installation, periodic powerwashing of sidewalks, support for community special events and promotional activities, business retention & attraction, façade improvements, and more.

These enhanced services and programs are in addition to those currently provided through the City of Chicago. A volunteer commission of SSA taxpayers oversees the planning, costs, and effectiveness of SSA #34’s programs and services.

Join us for a public meeting to discuss the proposed renewal and expansion of Uptown Special Service Area #34. TWO DATES featuring the same presentation. Both at Weiss Memorial Hospital, 4646 N. Marine Drive, Chicago, IL 60640. Your participation is invited.

Thursday, May 15, 7:00 pm at Weiss Auditorium
Wednesday, May 28, 9:00 am at The Resident Classroom.

The Reconstitution Meeting will address the proposed renewal and expansion of Uptown SSA #34. All property owners of record for properties within the proposed SSA boundaries have been mailed a notice of these meetings.  For more info, visit http://www.uptownunited.org/ssa/reconstitution. More info will be added throughout the month. Or feel free to call 773-878-1064 or email us.
