Buena Park Pumpkins on 10/31

6-8:30pm starting at 1049 W. Buena

From our October 2013 newsletter:

Safe Trick or Treat

It’s time to start thinking about the annual Safe Trick or Treat. Buena Park Neighbors hosts this event every year, and it has become a great tradition. Buena Circle Park, 1049 W. Buena, becomes operation central and from there trick or treaters head north and south on Kenmore, delightfully gathering goodies from equally delighted residents who welcome the little costumed darlings into their appropriately decorated yards. Each year one of the homes along the way wins the coveted George Ferak award, named in honor of the originator of the event, for best decorations, so expect to see some really creative yards.

We always need volunteers for this event. If you are interested please contact Gretchen at halloween@180promotions.com. Also, we need candy to help supply participating residents. We will be sending a separate email with the candy drop off locations, so stay tuned.

Greek wine tasting a big hit

Uptown Update had this to say about Greek Night at the BPN Arts Expo this Saturday:

Μια καλή στιγμή ήταν είχε από όλα.*

According to all accounts, Saturday night’s Buena Park Arts Greek Night was a Greek classic.  There was Greek music (even a few dances), Greek food, and Greek wine-tasting, with sommelier Steve Mendivil explaining why each vintage was special.  Best of all, there was fine conversation, with donations added to the “Buena Park Feeds Chicago” food drive.

Gene Tenner took photos to commemorate the evening, which can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/78559435@N04/sets/72157635994395246/.  Look closely, and you may even see The Most Interesting Man In The World make an appearance.

*A good time was had by all.
