BPN’s First Litter Patrol

Saturday morning Buena Park Neighbors held it first Litter Patrol. 12 residents met at the KFC parking lot at Broadway and Buena and spread out from there to pick up trash. After two hours of combing the neighborhood they all returned with garbage bags full of litter. Buena Park Neighbors thanks these concerned neighbors for taking the time and interest to serve the community.

We will be conducting litter patrols the second Saturday of each month. The next Litter Patrol will be August 13. If you are interested in joining in, please e-mail us or just show up at the KFC parking lot at 10 am.

Buena Park Neighbors is excited to announce two new programs designed to help keep Buena Park a beautiful place to live! The first is the Buena Park Beautification Awards. Beginning in July BPN will be roaming the neighborhood looking for exceptional gardens, beautiful landscaping and well-preserved buildings. Should your home be chosen, the BPN Beautification Committee will award you with a gift certificate to a local business and a sign that you can proudly hang for all your neighbors to see. Several awards will be given out this summer so keep tending to your home – you might be the next lucky winner!

The second exciting initiative is the Buena Park Litter Patrol. We have broken the neighborhood into quadrants and are currently forming teams to pick up litter on a monthly basis. The quadrants are:

1. Montrose to Buena, Kenmore to Broadway

2. Montrose to Buena Broadway to Marine Drive

3. Buena to Irving Park, Kenmore to Broadway

4. Buena to Irving Park, Broadway to Marine Drive.

The first clean-up is planned for the second Saturday in July (July 9th) and will continue on the second Saturday of each month going forward. The teams will meet at 10am and finish by noon, followed by lunch at one of the neighborhood restaurants. We have solidified four “captains” who have each agreed to oversee one of the quadrants and we are now recruiting volunteers for this project. We will provide supplies and bright T-shirts with the Buena Park Neighbors logo for all who participate. Please contact us at general@buenaparkneighbors.org and let us know which quadrant you’d like to join.

Both of the aforementioned initiatives are very exciting for BPN and we look forward to keeping Buena Park clean and green! The Litter Patrol will not replace the fall and spring Clean and Green events.
